Laboratory
Specialising in degree of polymerisation (DP) analysis of paper insulation retrieved from high voltage apparatus.
Degree of Polymerisation is an integral part of the End of Life evaluation process.
To provide detailed analysis of the ageing characteristics of High Voltage apparatus paper insulation.
Polaris Diagnostics & Engineering Ltd operates a state of the art laboratory specialising in, and dedicated to carrying out Degree of Polymerisation (DP) analysis of paper insulation retrieved from transformers and other items of high voltage apparatus. The laboratory has been operational since March 2018 is fully ISO accredited for Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety, with analysis being carried out in accordance with IEC 60450:2004/AMD1:2007. This facility is unique to Scotland, offering services to our UK clients and is open to receiving international commissions from around the world.
Our Services
Degree of Polymerisation Analysis
Applications of DP Analysis:
- To Establish The Insulation Ageing Characteristics Of The High Voltage Apparatus
- To Determine The Relative Ageing Of Adjacent Layers Of Insulation
- To Compare Actual Measured DP To Predicted DP Derived From 2FAL In Oil
- To Generate A DP Map Of A Single Transformer Winding Or Entire Active Part
We can carry out DP analysis on paper samples retrieved from:
- Power Transformers
- Instrument Transformers
- Shunt & Series Reactors
- Bushings
- High Voltage Cables
- Cable Sealing Ends
- Generators
